Mahatma Gandhi inspires Obama !!!

For last few months you might be hearing about every Indian’s hero and ideal “Mahatma gandhi”. We Indians were so proud and delighted to hear from US president Obama that if you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, it would be Mahatma gandhi who not only inspires him but also inspired Martin Luther king. Ofcourse we should be proud. But isn’t it amzaing that we express our delight when someone else following our nation’s Father’s Ideologies. Ofcourse we should feel proud but before that look into your innerself and ask yourself a question “Do I believe and follow father of our nation? Do I really know what does Gandhi mean to India, to the world.” If you get the answer as yes, you should be a proud Indian, else you are a hypocrite taking pleasure and earning comfort of taking pride on the cost of sacrifice made by Gandhi.

I do nor mean any offense to anyone but it is shamefull for those Indians who take uneccessary pride and also for those who claim to be inspired by Gandhi just for fame and politics.

Obama said “You know, I think that it might be Gandhi, who is a real hero of mine”.He wrote in a yet to be published article in the ethnic India Abroad newspaper that “In my life, I have always looked to Mahatma Gandhi as an inspiration, because he embodies the kind of transformational change that can be made when ordinary people come together to do extraordinary things”.

Now ladies and gentlemen our dearest mr. Obama won a noble prize for peace for reasons which I consider non of my business. But I was deeply hurt by his statement made by him while the recieving the noble peace prize. He advocated that War is indispensable for peace. Now which dictionary of non-violence by mahatma gandhi did Obama read and God knows which mahatma Gandhi inspired him. Obama says sometimes Non-violence is the key to peace. But Mahatma gandhi says “Nonviolence and truth (Satya) are inseparable and presupposes one another. There is no god higher than truth.” (Quoted from True Patriotism: Some Sayings of Mahatma Gandhi, 1939, ed. by S. Hobhouse). I hope Obama someday read my blog though it is senseless thing to think.

I don’t know what Mr. Obama really thinks of Mahatma Gandhi. But as a true admirer of Gandhi I want that someday Mr. Obama clarify this new innovative gandhian concept to us. I did not write this post because I do not like Obama, I wrote this because I felt that this is wrong. Gandhi is being mis-understood and his ideologies are used as a tool these days just to attain good political image.
