How to disable Autoplay

Whenever you insert a CD, DVD or a USB drive into your system Autoplay begins to read from that drive. However, this wonderful feature can also cause havoc to your system if CDs or USB drives contains hidden worms or Trojans. They will run and infect your PC once you insert the CD or PEN drive as the Autoplay is enabled. So s a security measure it is recommended these days to disable your Autoplay. This will prevent the viruses to run and meanwhile you can scan the drive and explore the drive to see any hidden content. You can follow these simple steps to disable the Autoplay:

Step1. Go to –> Start| Run | GPEDIT.MSC
This opens the Group Policy in the Microsoft Management Console

Step2. Go to –> Computer Configuration| Administrative templates | System

Step3. Double click “Turn off Autoplay

There you can configure the Autoplay however it may not work for music CDs.

You can enable or disable these settings in similar fashion. So hurry up and configure it now.
